Another dimension has been introduced to the ongoing litigation between the former Minister Dr Olu Agunloye and the Economic and Financial Crime Commission on the award of the $6 billion Mambilla hydro power project.
Few hours after the Federal High Court in Abuja on Wednesday, had ordered the remand of Dr Olu Agunloye in Kuje Correctional Center, Professor Wole Soyinka raised an alarm over the safety of the Ondo state born Dr Agunloye.
He informed the federal government of a justifiable concern that Dr Agunloye might be killed like his predecessor Chief Bola Ige. He asserted that the murder of the former Minister of Power and Steel was not unconnected with the same Mambilla Hydro Power project. He said the current move is to take Dr Agunloye out because he had been working closely with him in their quest to unravel the killers of Chief Bola Ige.
Professor Wole Soyinka called on the Federal government to set up an open judicial commission to investigate the Mambilla Hydro Power project that had shortchanged Nigerians for over two decades.
He therefore advised the Federal government to ensure the safety of Dr Olu Agunloye (while in custody) who he described as a pivotal witness.
