Seven of the ten members of the House of Representatives, representing Akwa Ibom State in the National Assembly had on Thursday, defected from the opposition party to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
The defecting lawmakers were elected on the platform of the People’s Democratic Party and the Young Progressives Party.
Hon Tajudeen Abass announced the defection of the lawmakers in a separate letters addressed to him.
The defecting lawmakers are Martin Esin, Paul Ekpo, Eteh Ikpong, and Okon Bassey, Unyime Idem, Emmanuel Udom, Uduak Alphonsos.
The defection of the Akwa Ibom lawmakers from the PDP is coming as a result of the directive of the state governor who had earlier decamped from the party to APC.
