2027: COALITION MAY BE AN EFFORT IN FUTILITY, THEY CANT BE TRUSTED - MR ANTHONY SANI

The former secretary general of the Arewa Consultative Forum Mr Anthony Sani has said the much publicized coalition may not achieve their aim of unseating President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in 2027.

Anthony Sani said, the dynamics are not in favor of the coalition. For example, unless President Tinubu does too badly- which I hope not, the North will prefer to let President Bola Tinubu complete the tenure meant for the South. This is because he is the only southerner who has only one term to go.

The North cannot trust Peter Obi that he will do one term. You would recall President Jonathan pledged to do one term but reneged.
The politics of zoning does not favour Atiku precisely because all the Southerners and most Northerners favor the idea of zoning in the interest of unity and stability of the country.

When asked, about the candidate that the coalition could put forward that will give them the needed votes to defeat Tinubu. He said I have told you the politics do not favor the coalition. Whether the ticket is Atiku/Obi or Atiku/Amaechi.

2027: ATIKU'S EXIT, A FREEDOM FOR PDP - GOVERNOR SEYI MAKINDE

Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo state has described the exit of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as a “freedom” for the party, saying it is better than being held back by internal obstacles.

Alhaji Atiku, who was the PDP’s presidential candidate in the 2023 election, resigned from the party in a letter dated July 14, 2025, addressed to the PDP chairman of Jada 1 Ward in Jada Local Government Area of Adamawa State. In the letter, he said the PDP had strayed from its founding vision, and which prompted his decision to leave as painful.

Reacting to the development during the 10th Coronation Anniversary Colloquium of the Deji of Akure, Oba Aladetoyinbo Ogunlade Aladelusi, held in Akure, Governor Makinde said Atiku’s resignation does not affect the PDP’s strength or prospects.

Politics is a game of interest, and I don’t think Atiku’s exit will make any damage on the PDP. The PDP is an institution,” Makinde said. “Politics is free entry and free exit like a business. But I think it's better for someone to leave than to continue holding the party down"

He dismissed concerns over the rising popularity of the ADC, saying it poses no threat to the PDP. “I don’t see ADC as a threat to the existence of PDP. It is a normal occurrence for a dissatisfied people to seek a refuge in another platform" the Governor noted.

The Governor concluded by emphasizing that political players come and go, but the nation and its institutions will endure: “Presidents will come and go, but our country and our states will remain.”

NIGERIA 2027: COMPARING PETER OBI WITH TINUBU IS LIKE COMPARING AN ANTELOPE WITH AN ELEPHANT - ASARI DOKUBO

A prominent chieftain and leader of Kalabari people, Asari Dokubo in a Facebook video has voiced his displeasure over the comparison being drawn between President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the Presidential candidate of the Labour party in the 2023 election, Mr Peter Obi. He expressed displeasure at what he observed as an unfair comparison, arguing that Peter Obi ruled Anambra for eight years with little or nothing to show as achievements, he said, making any comparison with Asiwaju is highly misplaced and unnecessary.

Mujahedeen Dokubo further highlighted the transformational strides of Tinubu regime in Lagos state, stating that the state was fundamentally different before the emergence of Bola Tinubu administration. He insisted that Obi had no valid excuse for not having a significant developmental progress and succession plan while he was governor of Anambra state, which is still affecting state even with the same APGA ruling till date.

According to him "somebody was governor for eight years and he has nothing to show, How them, can anybody in his or her right senses compare Peter Obi with Bola Tinubu? Go to Lagos, look at Lagos before 1999 and Lagos of today, he was there for eight years. Since Peter Peter Obi left Anambra, it's his party APGA that is still ruling that state, so nobody will say different people took over"

COALITION: PETER OBI NOT FIT TO BECOME PRESIDENT.

The conspicuous absence of Mr Peter Obi at the burial rites of former President Muhammadu Buhari had generated a lots of comments debates, which they said might affect his pursuit of Nigeria Presidency.

According to the President of Arewa Youth Consultative Forum, Comrade Yerima Shettima, Mr Peter Obi has not broken the ethnic cord that tied him with their tribal unbelieve in Nigeria nation. Alhaji Yerima said right from the start of Obi's campaign, his statements, actions and press releases are ethnically based.

The Arewa said the absence of the Presidential aspirant at the burial of the former President Muhammadu Buhari is stemmed out of the fear of what Nnamdi Kanu and his Biafran people would say judging by their deep rooted hatred for the Northern people.

He therefore said, unless Mr Peter Obi removed his robe of ethnicity, he should not evpect any vote from the Northern Nigeria, as it would be hypocritical for him to expect vote from the group of people he had vowed not to love.

OSUN 2026: "FROM UMBRELLA TO BROOM" DAVIDO RELEASES A NEW SONG, FOR "MR DANCER'S CROSS-OVER"

As stage appeared set for the 2026 Osun State elections, Nigerian music superstar Davido has unveiled a new single titled “From Umbrella To Broom.”

This release comes in light of Governor Ademola Adeleke’s recent decision to defect from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The song, infused with vibrant beats and thought-provoking lyrics, captures the essence of political change and loyalty, reflecting the complex dynamics within the state’s political landscape. As the campaign season heats up, Davido’s passionate tribute aims to rally support for Governor Adeleke, highlighting the significant implications of this political shift for the people of Osun.

According to sources in Adeleke’s camp confirmed that the governor will be unveiled at a ceremonial event after meeting top APC stakeholders yesterday.

Heighting the rumors surrounding his political shift is the recent release of a new song by Davido, the globally renowned Nigerian artist and brother to Governor Adeleke. The track, titled “New broom go sweep better, Ẹtan abẹla si ìjọba wa, From umbrella to the broom,” has stirred considerable buzz and is seen by many as a commentary on the governor’s anticipated defection to the APC. The lyrics metaphorically suggest change and renewal, further fueling speculation about Adeleke’s political ambitions.

Adding to the excitement, Davido, who has been a visible supporter of his brother, accompanied Governor Adeleke during a recent visit to President Bola Tinubu in Lagos. In light of the 2026 governorship election approaching, Davido is poised to be a key promotional figure for Adeleke’s campaign, further intertwining the realms of music and politics in this evolving scenario.

“As of now, there are deliberations around Adeleke joining the APC. The considerations of the party (APC) leaders are that if he joins, it would help it get a hold of Osun State, given that he is the incumbent governor, but we are still waiting on what will happen,” an APC chieftain told SaharaReporters.

Another APC source in Osun said the final decision rests with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. If the President decides to accept Adeleke into the party, we would support him, as he is the leader of the party,” the source said.

“The issue however is that quite a number of key members of the PDP in Osun State left the party (PDP), due to differences with Adeleke, so there are concerns that if Adeleke joins the party, it may have adverse effect on the APC in Osun State, how would those who left PDP because of Adeleke feel.”

SUPREME COURT UPHOLDS OKPEBOLO'S AS EDO GOVERNOR.

Mr Monday Okpebholo of All Progressives Congress, has again been affirmed as the winner of the 2024 governorship election by the Supreme Court.

The apex court while delivering the judgement, also dismissed the appeal filed by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Asue Ighodalo. In a unanimous decision by a five-member panel led by Justice Mohammed Garba, the apex court ruled that the appeal lacked merit. It upheld the earlier Court of Appeal and Election Petition Tribunal judgements which had ruled in favour of Okpebholo as the governor.

The court held that Ighodalo and the PDP failed to proof their case, because of lack of credible and admissible evidence to support claims of irregularities, including allegations of over-voting and substantial non-compliance with the Electoral Act.

The Supreme Court also rules that the Appellants failed to call relevant witnesses to demonstrate the evidence tendered—particularly with respect to the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) machines. The Court also condemned what they called "dumping" of documents on the Tribunal without proper linkage to the allegations in 432 out of the 4,519 polling units.

Ighodalo had approached the apex court after the Court of Appeal, in its May 29 ruling, affirmed the tribunal’s dismissal of his petition. He argued that the lower courts failed to properly evaluate the evidence, and insisted that the election was not conducted in substantial compliance with the Electoral Act.

The PDP and its candidate had earlier contended before the tribunal that INEC failed to pre-record some sensitive materials and that results were allegedly manipulated in 765 polling units. They called 19 witnesses and tendered 153 BVAS machines used in 133 polling units, but the tribunal ruled that they failed to substantiate their claims.
